Yukaʻs TB testo

Here's a funny story, Yuka arrived on Tuesday... Her school starts the following Monday. All she needed to do was get a TB shot, get it read and pass, take the placement test, pay for school, and figure out how to get to school, then go to school!

We drove to LCC on Thursday for the TB test, but they closed it since its a holiday weekend! So we got directed to another place that does.

Yuka got her TB shot done on Wednesday, got it read on Friday....but failed! There was a big 'ol red spot where the shot was taken. So she got shot in the other arm and was told to come back on Sunday.

Sunday came and sure enough... failed AGAIN!

In the end, they gave her an xray and everything is fine... except for the two big round spots on her arms.

The doctor explained that in Japan, they test for TB in a different way, which makes them test positive when they get tested in the U.S. So friends, if this is you, save your money and go straight to taking the xray. This is because it will always read as positive.

The clinic was very nice to us. They didn't charge us the second shot, or the clinic visits and the doctor gave Yuka a discount on the xray because she had to pay out of pocket. And she will get reimbursed later.
