July 6, 2009. Berlin is such a beautiful city. Even our hotel, the Radisson Blu was breathtaking. It reminded me of the Marriot Ihilani Spa & Resort in Hawaii but modern and contemporary.
I felt like our hotel represented Berlin well; large, organized, modern, clean, spacious and still natural with a unique European touch.
First thing you see when you enter the lobby is a huge 260,000 gallon, 80 foot high aquarium with 2,500 fish. You could pay to ride the slow-moving elevator inside the aquarium all the way up to the platform on top.
The best part of each morning was the breakfast buffet.
the mousse
the enclairs
the lox
the German sausages, potatoes and rosemary spiced mushrooms
the bread station with a self-toasting oven
the syrup written in German
the drinks, "with gas" or with "no gas"
the cereal station with its own grinder
the fruit jams
the yogurts and its toppings and a variety of cereals in the background
the German cheeses -the two doughnut-looking ones is a sour cream with chives and a sweet coffee-like almond tiramisu cheese. The rest were a mix between hard and soft cheeses.
Most mornings I had a crossaint, German sausages, German cheeses, steak tartare and onions, a baked tomato half with melted hard cheese, a deviled egg, smoked salmon, tea or juice "with gas" and a nutella to-go.
The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations by far. I was drooling and dreaming about it all day, everyday until the very last day.
At the end of the day, we ate sausages, sausages and more sausages.
white sausages...
curry sausages -like ketchup and curry powder.
