Day 2 Berlin free day

July 7, 2009.

The Fernsehturm needle in the Alexanderplatz is a TV tower over a thousand feet high located right across from our hotel.

View from the top of the needle

The Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels statue in the former East Communist Berlin.

Berliner Dom from the late 1800s is next door to our hotel.

The glass dome of the Reichstag. Many say Hitler started the dome's fire in 1933 and blamed it on the communist which lead to many arrest. This allowed the Nazi party to have majority of the seats in the parliment. More seats equal more votes.

Today, the dome has a sun-shield that shades by following the course of the sun.

Altes Museum

Charlottenburg Schloss, a palace built for King Friedrich's wife, Charlotte.
