Paris, La Fête Nationale

Good news... we went to Paris.

The bad news... The Effiel Tower was closed! It was Bastille day, the French national holiday (July 14, 2009)... and thats the only day of the year that they close the Eiffel Tower!

But the reward was that night, the Effiel Tower had the largest fireworks show of the year in Paris.

Getting there was the hardest part. Not because we couldn't find it but because everyone in Paris wanted to go there. Not a smart place to go unless you like to feel like an aluminum can in a recycling factory. We had to keep letting the subway cars pass because it was over crowded! We finally got there just in time for the finale.

Since the Eiffel was closed, the next day it was crazy busy.

When we got there the next morning the line was so long. It would take us all day to get tickets.

We went sight-seeing instead.

Twightlight at the Eiffel was about 9PM. The line was still long but we got to the top by midnight.
